Reference Services

The Newbury Library offers full reference service including one-on-one assistance, phone reference, and homework assistance. Reference staff is also on hand to help patrons with the on-line computer catalog, the numerous electronic databases and the internet. Don't ever hestitate to ask a librarian for help.

We have 10 computer stations for the public. All of these computers feature internet access as well as Microsoft Office 2000. Three of these computers are in a computer room, four in our main reference area, one in the Young Adult area and one in our Local History Room

The Newbury Library also provides current stock market and investor tools inlcuding Valueline and Morningstar. Also available is local history and genealogy records including vital records and family historys.

Daily newspapers including The New York Times, Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal, and Newburyport Daily News.

Local History Research

Experienced Genealogist and Newbury's Town Historian Dick Cunningham is available to assist the public with local history and family research at the The Newbury Town Library on Thursdays from 1-3 in the Kathryn Brown Room.

Reference On Call

Need answers at a time libraries are typically closed? A new service provided by the Northeast Massachusetts Regional Library System provides toll-free telephone reference between 8 and 9 a.m. and 9-11 p.m. Monday though Friday. Sunday the service is provided from 1-11 p.m. The phone number is 1-866 REF-ON-CALL (1-866-733-66-2255)
